William was at his house seated in front of the television. He thought he was going to have a relaxing night in front as he watched the news. “James should sail across the finish line smoothly,” he said to himself as Jody started reading the intro to Angela’s interview with Sabrina Shaw. William listened as Sabrina stated that she was a call girl from the Garden of Eden escorts and that James had been hiring her since Charlotte’s trial.
William immediately jumped up from the sofa screaming. “What the hell!”
He grabbed his cell phone and called James. “I asked you to tell me everything they could possibly find out about you,” he mumbled to himself. James’s phone went straight to voicemail. “He should have that thing on at all times, I don’t care if he is in the hospital.” He then proceeded to call Julia. She did not answer the call.
William kicked his sofa. “Am I the only one that cares about this campaign?” William paced for a second then he called his son Bryan.
“Yeah,” Bryan said as she answered the phone.
“Finally someone answers,” William stated.
“What?” Bryan asked.
“I need you to go the hospital and get me on the phone with James Swift pronto,” William told him.
“What is it?” Bryan inquired.
“Do you not watch the news?” William questioned him.
“No,” I am relaxing,” Bryan replied.
William informed Bryan about the story about James hiring a call girl. “I am drafting a response for the evening news.”
“Isn’t that my job?” Bryan asked.
“I am handling this,” William said. “You get me on the phone with James. I will be over there later to discuss strategy.”
“In the hospital?” Bryan questioned.
“Yes,” William replied. “And find Julia as well. He will need the loving girlfriend by his side during the fallout.”
Sky and Raven were just arriving home to the mansion.
“I hope we can put all this stuff with Jody behind us now,” Raven said to him.
Sky was silent for a second. “We are still going to try to find Preacher Emerson for them.”
“But I want to get back to what we were talking about before Jeremy interrupted us,” Raven told him. “What else did you want to tell me about Alicia Van Dine.?”
Sky sat down on the sofa, “I really don’t feel like talking about her right now, but sit down.”
“That bad?” Raven questioned as she went to sit down next to him as Sky’s cell phone rang.
Sky picked it up to look at the name.
“Don’t answer it,” Raven said.
“It’s William Church,” Sky informed her.
“What could he want?” Raven inquired as Sky answered the phone.
“This is Sky Whitney,” Sky stated as he answered the phone.
Raven could hear William screaming through the phone though she could not make out what he was saying.
“What?” Sky asked. “You have got to be kidding me?”
“What is it?” A confused Raven inquired.
“I will call WMON and get to the bottom of this,” Sky told William as he hung up the phone.
Sky was silent as he ended the call.
“Well, what is it?” Raven demanded.
“Angela Rhomer just did an interview on WMON with a call girl claiming that James is one of her clients,” Raven informed her.
“That bitch,” Raven exclaimed. “It is obviously a lie.”
“The woman claims to have dates to back up her story, so I need to call WMON and get that information from Jeremy,” Sky stated.
“There is no way James did this,” Raven stated.
“I know,” Sky replied. “We need to head to the hospital after,” Sky informed her. “William wants to have a strategy session there.”
“And we are going to destroy Angela Rhomer, she cannot keep getting away with this,” Raven told him.
“First thing tomorrow, I will look into buying the station back, and then she is history,” Sky said.
At Monticello General, Suzanne had just given James a kiss as she prepared to leave his room. James was taken by surprise and did not return the affections.
“I will try to come back tomorrow,” Suzanne told him as she left.
Outside, Julia and Charlotte had witnessed the kiss, and Julia was not happy.
Suzanne opened the door and was smiling as she left the room. “Oh, hi Charlotte,” she said ignoring Julia. “It’s been a while. We should get together soon and catch up.”
“Now, you listen here, I don’t know what kind of game you are playing,” Julia started to say before Suzanne cut her off.
“Who the hell are you?” Suzanne asked playing dumb.
“This is Julia Scott,” Charlotte answered her. “She is James’s girlfriend.”
Suzanne gave Julia a look over, and then looked at Charlotte. “He’s done better.” Suzanne then proceeded to walk away.
“Why you…” Julia started to exclaim before Charlotte cut her off.
“She’s not worth it,” Charlotte stated. “I never cared for her anyway. I don’t know what James saw in her.”
An angry Julia entered the room with Charlotte. “What the hell was she doing here?”
“She wanted to see me, and the police cleared her as a suspect,” James started to explain.
“So you had to see her?” Julia asked him.
“She just wanted to apologize for sneaking into my room before,” James informed her.
“And the kiss?” Julia questioned him.
“You saw that?” James inquired.
“Yes, we did,” Charlotte replied.
“She kissed me,” James answered. “I didn’t initiate anything. You know how I feel about you. No one can ever change that.”
“He’s right,” Charlotte agreed. “I have never seen him as happy as he is with you.”
Julia stood there not saying a word.
“Do you actually think, she means anything to me anymore?” James asked Julia. “After all we have been through.
“I guess not,” Julia responded. “But don’t let it happen again.”
Outside James’s hospital room, Deborah and Lyle were sitting off to the side.
Deborah was recalling what Guthrie had said in the office earlier that day. “Steve is divorced,” she mumbled to herself. She was referring to her ex-boyfriend, Guthrie’s father.
“I don’t know why Mrs. Whitney wants all of her kids protected but I think James is the only one who really needs it,” Lyle said to Deborah.
When Lyle started speaking, Deborah stopped remembering. “I think you are right,” Deborah told him. “But I wouldn’t want to tell Mrs. Whitney that.”
“It may not be my place to say this, but I don’t think she likes you very much,” Lyle stated.
“You are correct there,” Deborah said. “She has never gotten over the fact that I suspected her of being a murderer.”
“What?” Lyle asked.
“It was long time ago,” Deborah informed him. “I believed she had killed an ex-boyfriend of hers, Eliot Dorn.”
“Really?” Lyle asked.
“Yes,” Deborah replied. “I hadn’t been on the force that long back then. But the real killer turned out to be Julia’s parents’ housekeeper, Molly Sherwood.”
“Why did she do it?” Lyle inquired.
“It’s a complicated story,” Deborah replied. “But she wanted Julia’s mother April out of the way, so that Draper would be free to be with Emily Michaels. Molly had been the housekeeper for Emily’s family before, and Emily was like a daughter to her.”
“That’s crazy,” Lyle stated.
“Molly and Emily both were,” Deborah said. “And Raven actually ended up saving April’s life before Molly could kill her. So when it was revealed Molly was the killer, I turned in my badge and I left the force.”
“I thought you were the police chief before?” Lyle questioned.
“I was,” Deborah responded. “But that was years later when I returned to take the Chief of Police position.”
As Deborah was speaking, Bryan came walking up to them.
“I figured this is where you would all be,” Bryan stated.
“What is it?” Deborah asked.
“You don’t know?” Bryan asked. “My father has been trying to get a hold of James and Julia and they are ignoring his calls and texts. He sent me to find them.”
“Why is he so desperate to talk to him?” Lyle asked.
“Can’t he leave them alone for a little while?” Deborah inquired. “Does he always have to be all business? The man really needs to get a life.”
“You two really don’t know what happened, do you?” Bryan asked.
Deborah and Lyle stared confused at each other.
“No,” they both replied.
Back in the hospital room, Julia was speaking as her cell phone went off. “Would Mr. Church just leave me along for a minute?” She questioned as she looked at the caller ID. “It’s my mom,” she announced when saw the name.
“What does she want?” James asked.
“I will find out later, and don’t change the subject,” Julia responded as Bryan appeared outside hospital room door.
“What’s he doing here?” James asked.
“Who knows,” Julia replied. “His father has been calling ever since we arrived at the hospital but I have been ignoring him.”
As Bryan entered the room, they could tell he had a serious look on his face. “My father has been trying to get a hold of you two,” Bryan stated.
“And we just left him at the office,” Julia responded. “I would like to have some alone time with James.”
“And my phone has been dead for days, I have been forgetting to recharge it,” James replied.
“There is no time for any of that,” Bryan told them. “My father is drafting a response for the evening news in regards to Ms. Shaw’s revelations.”
“Who?” Julia asked. “What are you talking about?”
“Yes, what are you talking about?” James repeated.
“You didn’t see the news?” Bryan inquired.
“No,” they both answered him.
“What was on it?” Charlotte asked.
“I’m sorry to be the one to have tell you Julia,” Bryan started to say. “Do you want to tell her, Mr. Swift?”
“Tell her what?” James demanded.
“Oh boy,” Bryan said. “Sabrina Shaw is an escort for the Garden of Eden Escort Service.”
“Garden of Eden?” Charlotte questioned. “Isn’t that where Lindsay worked?” Charlotte was referring to Lindsay Pace, James’s former assistant and Gordon’s ex-girlfriend. Charlotte had almost gone to prison for the murders Lindsay had committed.
“Yes,” Bryan answered her. “Sabrina went on WMON and said that James has been hiring her since your trial.”
“What?” James exclaimed.
“I’m sorry to be the one tell you,” Bryan said to Julia.
“I don’t even know who in the hell she is,” James shouted. “She is obviously lying.
“James, you should calm down,” Charlotte told him.
“Yes, she is obviously lying,” Julia agreed.
Bryan and Charlotte stared at Julia trying to tell if they believed her.
Outside Didi’s apartment, Beth and Nathan were knocking at her door.
Nathan had just told Beth that he believed Didi’s ex Julius was interested in her.
Inside the apartment, Julius told Didi to stay seated on the sofa and that he would answer the door.
“You need your rest,” he said to her.
“It’s probably my friend, Dr. Beth Cavanaugh,” Didi informed him. “I am expecting her.”
As Julius opened the door, he was surprised to see not just Beth but Nathan there as well.
Nathan was not happy to see Julius answer the door. There was a silence at the door.
“Who is it?” Didi asked when she realized that no one was speaking.
“It’s me,” Beth finally stated.
“And what the hell are you doing here?” Nathan yelled at Julius.
Didi recognized Nathan’s voice before he could answer.
“Nathan,” she stated. “What are you doing here?”
“I’m wondering that myself,” he replied. He looked at Julius, and then he looked at Didi. “What do you want?”
Beth and Julius were uncomfortable standing there.
“I’m not having this discussion with you with him here,” Nathan said as he stared at Julius.
Beth looked at Didi to say something.
“Nathan,” Didi started to say but Nathan cut her off.
“I’m leaving,” Nathan announced. “But I will be back.”
There was silence from all in Didi’s apartment until Beth finally said something.
“I’m Dr. Beth Cavanaugh,” she informed Julius as she introduced herself to him. “Didi and I have been friends for years.”
“I’m Julius Newcombe,” Julius replied.
“Julius has been a great friend to me,” Didi told Beth.
‘Well, that wonderful,” Beth replied. “But would mind if I talked to Didi privately, we have so much catching up to do.”
“No, that is not a problem,” Julius responded. “I will check up on you later,” Julius said to Didi as he left.
“Thank you for coming over,” Didi said to him.
After he left, Beth just stared at Didi.
“What?” Didi finally asked her.
“You tell me,” Beth told her.
“I don’t know what you mean,” Didi replied.
“What was Julius doing here?” Beth inquired.
“He is just a friend,” Didi responded. “He was just checking up on me to see how I was doing since I was released from the hospital. He lives across the hall.”
“And was that all he was doing?” Beth inquired.
“I don’t like what you are insinuating,” Didi said.
“You are back together with Nathan aren’t you?” Beth asked.
“Yes,” Didi answered her. “Kind of. I am mad at him right now.”
“Well, Nathan believes that Julius is interested in you,” Beth informed Didi.
“That’s not true,” Didi stated. “He is not looking for a relationship right now. He just wants to be friends. That’s his words not mine.”
Beth was silent for a second. “He may say that but, he is lying.”
“What do you mean?” Didi inquired.
“I can see it in his eyes,” Beth responded. “He is lying. He obviously has feelings for you. I can’t believe you can’t see it.”
“He does not,” Didi replied.
“Trust me, I know,” Beth told her. “He looks at you the same way I looked at Miles when he was dating Chris. I denied my feelings for Miles to everyone back then.”
Didi was silent. “Are you sure?”
“Yes,” Beth replied. “Which brings me to the question, what are you going to do about it?”
“He knows I am with Nathan now,” Didi replied.
“And yet he is still hanging around you,” Beth stated. “And you are letting him.”
“What is that supposed to mean?” Didi asked her.
Beth paused for a second, and then looked at Didi in the eye. “Is it possible that you still have feelings for Julius?”
At the Rhodes’s house, Nikki was relaxing on the sofa, when there was a knock at the door. “This is turning into Grand Central Station tonight,” she whispered to herself as she got up to answer the door. She was surprised to find Calvin there.
“I don’t want to see you,” she said to him.
“Nikki, I am not in the mood for this,” Calvin responded. “The chief is on my case because I ignored a police call. Though I caught a guy that has been pick pocketing and mugging people down town.”
“Calvin, I really don’t have time for this,” Nikki told him.
“I know you have been hiding something from me again, and I finally know what it is,” Calvin informed her. “We need to talk.”
“Oh,” Nikki replied. She assumed he was talking about her Paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria. “It’s alright…” Nikki started to say but Calvin cut her off.
“No, please let me talk,” Calvin told her.
“Okay,” Nikki replied.
“I know we have been going through a rough time,” Calvin stated. “But it never changed the way I feel about you. I wish you have told me what was going on. I would have gone to the doctor with you.”
“It’s alright,” Nikki told him assuming he was still talking about her Paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria.
“No, it’s not,” Calvin said. “I should have been there with you. But that is all in the past. I still love you. I never stopped.” Calvin then got down on one knee.
“What are you doing?” A surprised Nikki asked him.
“Let me finish,” Calvin told her. “Nikki Rhodes, you would make me the happiest man on earth if you would marry me.” As he finished speaking, he pulled a ring box from his pocket and opened it.
“Calvin, what are you doing?” Nikki inquired.
“What do you mean?” Calvin responded. “I want to marry you.”
“Is this your way of stopping me from going to Julliard?” Nikki questioned him.
“Julliard?” A shocked Calvin asked her. “You can’t still be planning on going there now that you are pregnant.”
“Pregnant?” Nikki questioned him.
“I know you are pregnant,” Calvin informed her.
“Who told you that?” Nikki demanded to know.
“No one,” Calvin replied. “I found your pregnancy test in your trash can at the foundation.”
“You were snooping through my trash can?” Nikki accused him.
“No,” Calvin responded. “What difference does it make? We are going to have a baby.”
“No, I am not pregnant,” Nikki informed him. “It was a false positive.
Calvin froze for a second. “So you are not pregnant?”
“No, I am not,” Nikki repeated. “I assume that was the only reason you asked me to marry you.”
Calvin remained silent for a second. “But the test was positive, I saw it,” Calvin told her. “So you did think at one point you were pregnant, and you didn’t tell me?”
It was Nikki’s turn to be silent as she tried to think how to respond.
“What were you going to do if you were pregnant?” Calvin asked her. “Were you ever going to tell me?”
“That’s not fair,” Nikki said to him.
As they were arguing, Jody and Jeremy were walking to their front door.
“It’s been one hell of a day,” Jody said to him.
“I forgot to tell you that Sky called again before we left the station,” Jeremy informed her.
“What did he say?” Jody asked though she seemed distracted.
“The same thing, he said the first time,” Jeremy started to say. “They know we didn’t have anything to do with the story about James and the prostitute.”
“Did they say what they were going to do?” Jody asked.
“They are looking into Sabrina Shaw’s story for themselves,” Jeremy answered. “They hasn’t spoken to James yet, but I know that they don’t believe her story. And I gave them the dates Sabrina claimed to have met with James/”
Jody just shook her head.
“And he also offered again to help find Preacher,” Jeremy informed her.
“We are going to need all the help we can get on that,” Jody uttered.
“We are going to get through this,” Jeremy told her.
“I don’t like not being at the station for the news tonight,” Jody stated. “I’m sure Angela will try to take advantage of the situation.”
“I told Nevins to do the news solo tonight,” Jeremy said. “And we have more important things to worry about than Angela right now.”
“You’re right,” Jody told him as she stopped at the door. “We have to tell Nikki the truth about her father. I didn’t t think we would ever have to do that.”
“It will be alright,” Jeremy stated as they heard Nikki and Calvin arguing in the house through the door.
“What is going on?” Jody demanded as they entered the house.
“Calvin is still being a jerk,” Nikki answered her.
“I just picked the wrong night to propose,” Calvin yelled. “Why would I think the woman I love would want to marry me?”
“Propose?” A shocked Jeremy and Jody questioned.
“He didn’t really mean it,” Nikki shouted.
“I did too,” Calvin replied.
“Calvin, could you please leave us alone to talk to Nikki?” Jeremy asked.
“And you shouldn’t be upsetting here in her condition,” Jody added.
“Condition?” A confused Calvin questioned. “What do you mean? She isn’t pregnant.”
“Pregnant?” Jody and Jeremy bother repeated.
“He thought I was pregnant,” Nikki explained. “He doesn’t know about my Paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria.”
“What?” Calvin asked.
“It’s a blood disease,” Nikki informed him. “But I am going to okay after I get a bone marrow transplant from one of my parents.”
Jody and Jeremy just stared at each other as Nikki spoke.
“That’s all there is to it?” Calvin asked.
“Not exactly,” Jody responded. “But could you please leave us alone with Nikki?”
“I think you have upset her enough,” Jeremy told him.
“That’s not why I came here,” Calvin stated.
“Please we need to talk to Nikki,” Jody said.
“You can talk to her later tonight on the phone,” Jeremy suggested.
Calvin was silent for a second. Then he turned to Nikki. “I will call you later.” He then turned to leave. As he was leaving he mumbled to himself, “If you answer the phone.”
After he left, Nikki turned to her parents. “Thank you for getting rid of him.”
“Nikki, we need to talk,” Jeremy told her.
“What about?” Nikki inquired.
Jody opened her mouth but couldn’t think of what to say. Instead she started to cry.
“Mom, what is it?” Nikki asked.
Jeremy went over and hugged Jody. “It’s going to be okay. Let’s all sit down.”
As they all made their way to the living room, Jody looked at Nikki.
“I’m sorry but we need to have a serious talk,” Jody informed her.
